Linode server upgrades

2 July 2016

Linode is again offering free server upgrades - this time a doubling of the RAM.

Today we upgraded our main web server, and while the RAM upgrade went smoothly, several problems were encountered relating to recent kernel and security changes.

It took an extra hour to restore access to websites, and some website contact forms were unable to send emails until this morning.

The good news (aside from the extra RAM) is that we'll be able to avoid similar problems when we upgrade our other Linode servers in coming days.

Update all servers have now been successfully upgraded.
