Emails from Hotmail being blocked

5 September 2010

For the last week or longer Hotmail has been having some spam problems and one of their servers has been blacklisted on SORBS meaning that our mail server will not always accept emails come through that server.

When you send an email from Hotmail it can use any one of a number of servers, so most emails will get through, just not if they come through the blacklisted server. These problems are usually temporary.

Update 9/9: due to ongoing problems with Hotmail we've modified our server now to avoid blocking any emails from their network.
